Mirjana Tonković

Mirjana Tonković is a Full Professor at the Department of Psychology, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Zagreb, Croatia, where she teaches courses on the methodology of scientific research and statistics. Her main area of interest is the psychology of language, with a particular focus on the relationship between language, thought, and perception, as well as the influence of linguistic framing on thinking and decision-making. She also studies the determinants of pseudoscientific and conspiracy beliefs and their relationship with scientific literacy. She has presented her work at numerous national and international conferences and serves as a reviewer for several journals in the fields of general and cognitive psychology and psycholinguistics. She has published around fifty scientific papers, professional articles, and book chapters. She has also led and contributed to numerous national and international research projects, including multidisciplinary and EU-funded initiatives.

Martina Podboj

Martina Podboj is an Assistant Professor at the University of Rijeka (Croatia), Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, where she teaches courses in linguistics and discourse analysis at the departments of English and Croatian studies. She holds a PhD in Linguistics from the University of Zagreb (2019), during which she conducted research on the discursive construction of identity in personal narratives about migration at the University of Alberta, Canada (2017-2018). In her research, she focuses on the interconnectedness of language, identity, and migration and combines approaches such as narrative analysis, critical discourse analysis, and digital discourse analysis to explore various aspects of language in social use, particularly in the online realm. Her most recent work deals with linguistic and multimodal strategies in media discourse, including clickbait and news values, stereotypical representations of female celebrities, and exploring evaluative and affective positioning in online headlines.
